A Core Lab Technical Specialist is a highly skilled health professional who performs all the duties of a Medical Technologist with additional responsibilities including assisting in the planning, organizing, technical operations and coordinating of the technical and administrative activities for the Core Lab and Blood Bank and for providing support in development, implementation, and continuous improvements.
Physical Demands:
May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes, equipment, stooping and kneeling, maybe required to lift up to 30 pounds.
Must pass color-blindness test.
Repetitive use of hands (eg.
computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary; must be able to physically operate automation used in the job.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and Registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
Licensure:
Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist.
Experience:
Four years of prior laboratory experience is required.
NYS Supervisory eligible is preferred.
Additional
Qualifications:
Written and oral communication skills required.
Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.
Problem solving ability, investigative technique, and attention to detail preferred.
